Hon. Magnus Edeh unveils new NGO, disburses first ₦7.5M in Aninri

Member representing Aninri at the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Magnus Edeh, has unveiled a new foundation.

Unveiling its name – Magnus Edeh Foundation (MEF) – the lawmaker explained that the initiative stemmed from his concern for poor women and youths in the constituency.

“Before now, we’ve been contributing as little as we could behind the cameras. We invite you today not for any show off. Rather, it’s for the purpose of making this particular initiative public because we want everything to be transparent.

“Magnus Edeh Foundation is for the people of Aninri, not a political party thing,” he said.

Almost a camera-shy type, Engr Magnus Edeh has contributed immensely to the needy in Aninri but has refused making those interventions public. Months ago, he donated school uniforms and sandals to 214 pupils at St. Theresa school, Nenwe.

Thanking him for “remembering [his] people at this critical times and Yuletide,” Rev. Father Kennedy praise the Assemblyman for “rare quality” he said typical Nigerian politicians lacked.

The Catholic clergyman confirmed that party affiliations was not considered in selecting the first batch of almost 140 people who received ₦50,000 each.

Also at the event were the President of Aninri chapter of Ohaneze Ndigbo and former council’s deputy chairman, Hon. Okechukwu Njoku-Oti; representatives of council of Aninri traditional rulers; Catholic and Anglican priests; Pentecostal clergymen, qand other major stakeholders in the zone.

Prince Ugochukwu Nwanjoku has re-stated his resolve to fight for the people of Aninri. During his campaign in 2024, he made a number of promises which included electrifying the entire zone in less than 18 months.

He has, yesterday, completely fulfilled that promise – less than 14 months after he took oath of office. The completion was announced in a brief circular shared yesterday by the youths leader of Aninri All Progressives Congress (APC), Joshua Ogbonna.

“The Aninri Council Chairman, Hon. Prince Ugochukwu Nwanjoku, has fixed the vandalized electricity poles at the Ndeabor‑Awgu axis, as he promised,” the statement read.

For ages, Aninri – a largely remote agrarian area – has surrendered to darkness and embraced it. One by one several political leaders came and passed by since 1999 without even a thought on the suffering of the locals in this regard – despite that billions of naira was regularly earmarked for Aninri electricity projects in national allocations.

In a distant past, feeble attempts were made and Aninri was connected to electricity. However, the joy was temporal as vandals swooped on the installations, carried them proudly to open market places and sold them without any consequence.

People saw clear picture of what has been happening few months ago when former Aninri Legislative Leader, Igwe Philip, was unanimously impeached by his colleagues. Among other things, he allegedly sponsored vandals of 300KVA transformer at Afo-Agbo near the council’s headquarters. Although the allegation hasn’t been proven, Philip has not denied it either.

Prince Ugochukwu Nwanjoku has radically rewritten the Aninri story. Having so far installed 19 transformers across all villages in the council, he has replaced the stolen cable wires and restore hundreds of poles.

Finally, yesterday, the chairman connected the zone to national power grid and joy erupted all across the land.

“I witnessed it, and I’m planning to relocate to Nenwe on February (2026),” said Nwonye Sunday, Aninri-born welder who “ran” to neighbouring Awgu to continue his craft because of no electricity.

“Nobody was buying from us there at Nenwe, and I’ll tell you why. Customers were going to do their works at Awgu and other places outside Aninri because it was cheaper in those places.

“That customer will have to pay for transportation and for the product. Yet if you calculate it, it’s cheaper than what is obtainable in Nenwe. Do you know why? The welder in Awgu used electricity but those of us in Aninri used generators. You have to buy gasoline, you have to repair and service your gen (generator). In the end the cost of production will make all the difference,” Nwonye said.

In a private chat with Info Wars, Prince Nwanjoku said that each of the promises he made on campaign trails were not meant to entice the people.

“I’ll fulfil them, all of them. We understand the economic importance of installing a functional electricity in the council. That’s why we’re leaving no stone unturned to make sure that every nooks and crannies is powered,” he said, vowing to show no pity to anyone who would attempt to vandalize the installations under his watch.

The Electricity Act 2023 (amended 2025) now includes in it a stringent penalty of life imprisonment.

Also, the president’s Chief Security Officer in the SSS, Adegboyega Fasasi, was promoted to the rank of director.

Explaining further, the source said that Yusuf’s elevation was to make his rank align with his counterparts in the sisters security agencies.

ODUFFA Elections: Ameke throws support for Mbe Kwuoto

Days before the Oduma Football Federated Association (ODUFFA) holds its elections, more blocs are throwing their weights for Augustine Uwanekwu (a.k.a Mbe Kwuoto) presidential bid.

This morning, “encouraging reports” broke that Ameke community has unanimously opted to vote for Mbe, according to insider sources. Frankly, it’s the sweetest of the many breakthroughs the former Amagu coach is seeing as the road to ODUFFA presidency gets messier.

Ameke village which borders Amagu to the North and Amorji to the West, has been in tumultuous relationship with their Amagu neighbours for decades. Now, their endorsement of an Amagu-born candidate is not just an unprecedented step towards healing, but a rare proof of Mbe’s mass acceptability across Oduma community.

Also, the endorsement speaks volumes about the tiring disillusionment among Oduma football lovers.

“In the good old days, ODUFFA made our Christmas holidays so exciting,” said a Lagos-based Ameke stakeholder.

“That time, football matches was the only reason most of us would come home for Christmas. Our people would come from far North and West to witness these exciting moments. It was all fun.

“But today, ODUFFA is a shadow of itself. The vision is dead and so is our common pride. We’re looking forward to reviving our land in the era where football is a lucrative business across the world. Only a diehard football enthusiast like Mbe can make the difference all of us desire. Ameke is voting him and were closing our eyes to village sentiments. We want ODUFFA to be great again,” the source said.

Ameke is one of the most powerful villages in Oduma. Multiple times ODUFFA championship, Ameke holds second position of a place with highest number of billionaires after Ohofia Oduma.

Their support is not just weighty, but is expected to tip the balance in the elections that is barely two weeks ahead.

Augustine Uwanekwu is already leading his only rival, Samson Okechukwu (Sammy), in all the major informal polls. Amorji, Sammy’s village, has continued to distance themselves from the man they’re “sure would bring Amorji to shame before Oduma football community.”

Sammy’s steady slide is a direct consequence of the two presidential candidates’ campaigns. Mbe’s campaign team – fortified, lethal and caustic – has been on Sammy’s throat, highlighting his weak temperaments and, leading him to many missteps and ultimate failure. Sammy’s handlers, however, have chosen an ineffective route of attack and mischief, talking down no both the opponent and the voters.

On Wednesday, Sammy said that Augustine Uwanekwu and the entire Oduma youths are Indian helm smokers, belittling them as low class who lack university education like himself. His threats, invectives and outbursts have targeted Chioma Onyeabor, Alphonsus Onwubiko, Ejike Ekwe, Osita Iyoke, Jude Ogbonna and others as he gets more hysterical under escalating pressure.
