Dangote, Emeka Offor, others raise ₦30.5b for Oluremi Tinubu Food Bank

Nigeria’s private sector leaders have donated ₦30.5 billion to Oluremi Tinubu food bank at a drop of a heart.

The pledges were announced at the official launch of the programme and inauguration of its Board of Trustees. Called National Community Food Bank Programme, the initiative which is championed by First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu would target vulnerable households and children under six.

Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote pledged support of a whooping sum of ₦20 billion in kind for “period of five years.

“Aliko Dangote Foundation will commit N20 billion in-kind support over the next five years on the provision of fortified and nutritious food products,” said Zouera Youssoufou Managing Director and CEO who represented Dangote at the event.

Also, the NNPC limited pledged starting sum of N10 billion to be disbursed over the “five-year period”. Sir Emeka Offor Foundation pledged N500 million.

Also at the event are the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) and the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF).

It looks like the Oluremi Tinubu food bank funding is a campaign strategy, aimed at weaponizing hunger for political gains in 2027.

Speaking at the event, Dangote representative said they are pushing for a Nigeria where no child go to bed hungry in line with “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda”. Also, the presence of ALGON and NGF gives the programme a political colouration aside the repetition that the donations would span “five years”.

“ADC can go to hell”, APC blasts ADC for blames over internal crisis

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has hit back, saying it has no hands on the internal crisis rocking African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a press statement issued yesterday, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said ADC isn’t doing itself good by blaming others for its woes instead of taking responsibilities.

“Quite apart from being an assembly of Nigeria’s most confused and desperate politicians, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has distinguished itself as a peddler of rabid conspiracy theories about what the All Progressives Congress (APC) is or is not doing to undermine the party,” Morka said.

ADC is “kamikaze contraption with a ‘follow-come’ self-destructive detonator”, Morka continued, added that the opposition party’s flaw is only beginning to reveal the intrinsic fault lines.

The APC image-maker also hit David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola very hard, describing them as “thoughtless… commandos” and hijackers who are at the roots of ADC deepening cracks.

Finally, he praised APC under President Bola Tinubu for its commitment to “Renewed Hope Agenda, saying it strengthens “democratic institutions for the peace, unity and prosperity of all Nigerians”.

2027: Alex Otti, LP candidates would be declared winners before 2pm – Lawmaker

Residents of Abia State are seeing the difference between Governor Alex Otti and the previous governors of the state since 1999.

So when they’ll come out to vote in 2027, they’ll be clearly siding Otti, said Ginger Onwusibe, the member representing Isiala Ngwa North/South in the National Assembly.

Onwusibe, who spoke at Ohafia recently, said the LP governor has won the hearts of Abia. For Otti and all labour tickets in the ‘God’s own state”, the 2027 elections is a work-over, he said.

However, the lawmaker added a crucial clause to his hopes.

“Under a free and fair election, Labour Party before 2 O’clock on the election day must have won the 184 polling Wards in the State”, he said. But would the elections be free and fair?

Noting the ongoing alliance of PDP and APC in Abia, Onwusibe said the people aren’t afraid of it. He spoke of the emptiness of the alliance, saying that while LP counts it’s massive achievement, members of the alliance count on the connection to ruling APC.

“They are all thinking that the election will be rigged. They think because they are the party in the centre they are going to rig election but I can tell you that would not happen in Abia“, Onwusibe said.
