ICPC declares Uche Nnaji wanted as his forgery scandal takes twists

Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) is after Chief Uche Nnaji for arrest.
Nigerian Bulletin reported that the anti-graft agency has launched the manhunt following his refusal to honour its repeated invitation.
“The ICPC is looking for him everywhere to possibly arrest him, and if we can’t find him, we will most likely declare him wanted,” Premium Times quoted an insider source as saying.
According to the source, ICPC had extended invitations severally to the former minister through WhatsApp, email, and phone for scheduled interrogations. But he has remained adamant and refused to show up.
Uche Nnaji has being a topic of serious public interest recently, not necessarily because he has quietly defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and secured nomination to run in the 2027 governorship race in Enugu State. Messy past episodes of his forgery scandal have resurfaced months before campaigns for next year’s general elections begin.
InfoWars reported that the PDP gubernatorial standard-bearer resigned his ministerial appointment after the allegations of documents forgery against him became a national embarrassment. Premium Time‘s report read that Nnaji presented fake UNN degree and NYSC certificate to President Bola Tinubu and the Nigerian Senate during his screening for the appointment.
He had initially insisted that it was a politically motivated allegation. But when he filed litigation to stop UNN authorities from publishing his records, many people who had initially believe him began to think twice.
The UNN authorities went ahead and made the records public. Immediately, a number of facts put holes to Nnaji’s claims of innocence. So far, NYSC has disowned the discharge certificate the ex-Minister was carrying, saying it was fake. When a federal panel set up to investigate the forgery allegation concluded, it also indicted Nnaji as a forger.
The present ICPC manhunt represents a twist in the highly publicised saga. But it appears as if the former minister has other plans. His obvious silence is as chilling as its confusing. Robert Ngwu, the special adviser on media to Nnaji, refused to respond to Premium Times enquiries. Although PDP is dead in Enugu, it’s an important fact that Nnaji is in the governorship race under the mentorship of FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
