Hon Ede, others grace APC monthly meeting in Aninri

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Aninri Local Government Chapter, held its General Meeting on Saturday, 27th June, 2026. The meeting brought together party executives, elected and appointed government officials, stakeholders, ward executives, polling unit chairmen, councillorship candidates, and party faithful from across the ten wards of Aninri Local Government Area. The gathering served as a platform for strengthening party structures, reviewing activities across the wards, and reinforcing the collective commitment of members towards the continued growth and success of the party.
The meeting commenced with an opening prayer led by Dr. Okey Ikpenwa, after which the Party Chairman for Aninri Local Government, Hon. Chief Afam Okafor, formally declared the meeting open and presided over the proceedings.
The traditional breaking of kola was performed by the former Deputy Mayor of Aninri Local Government Area, Hon. Bamidele, who prayed for unity, peace, progress, and continued success of the party at all levels.
In his opening remarks, the Local Government Party Chairman warmly welcomed members and specially recognized the presence of distinguished personalities, including:
The Deputy Mayor of Aninri Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs. Oluchi Nwaru; The Secretary of the Council, Hon. Sir Victor Okoro; Hon. Prince Tony Nwonye; Hon. Nathaniel Chukwu; Barr. Onyeabo; Hon. Anayochukwu Aja (Ezedinaobi), among other respected party leaders and stakeholders.
Following the recognition of dignitaries, Hon. Chief Afam Okafor delivered his welcome address. He commended members for their unwavering loyalty and commitment to the party and urged all party faithful to remain diligent, disciplined, trustworthy, and committed in carrying out their respective responsibilities, emphasizing that the strength of the party lies in unity, dedication, and effective grassroots mobilization.
A major highlight of the meeting was the fundraising exercise towards the construction of the proposed APC Local Government Party House. Members enthusiastically demonstrated their commitment to the project through generous donations.
Notably, Mr. Achi Kalu John from Ndeaboh Ward made a remarkable donation of ₦50,000 in support of the project, an act that was warmly applauded by members present.
Ward reports were subsequently presented by the Chairmen of all the ten (10) wards of Aninri Local Government Area. The reports provided updates on party activities, membership mobilization, organizational progress, and challenges within their respective wards.
An important aspect of the meeting was the formal presentation of Polling Unit Chairmen from every polling unit across the ten wards. The presentations were made through their respective Ward Chairmen, officially introducing the grassroots leadership structure to the Local Government Party Executive.
Following the presentations, Hon. Chief Afam Okafor congratulated the newly presented Polling Unit Chairmen and charged them to discharge their responsibilities with commitment, integrity, and unwavering dedication to the ideals of the party. He further encouraged Ward Chairmen to regularly convene polling unit meetings and closely monitor activities within their wards to ensure an effective and vibrant grassroots party structure.
As the meeting progressed, more prominent party leaders and stakeholders arrived and were duly recognized by the Chairman. They included: The Member representing Aninri Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Engr. Magnus Ede; Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ogbonna, Leader of the Aninri 11th Legislative Assembly; Former Federal Commissioner, Public Complaints Commission, Hon. Prince Chidi Ekwe; *Former Deputy Mayor of Aninri Local Government Area, *High Chief Okechukwu Njokuoti;* and other notable leaders and stakeholders of the party.
The Local Government Party Chairman thereafter formally presented the APC Councillorship Candidates, calling each candidate according to the ward he would be representing in the forthcoming Local Government Elections. Members received the candidates warmly and expressed confidence in the party’s preparedness for the elections.
Several respected party leaders and stakeholders were invited to address the meeting. Among those who spoke were: Dr. Okey Ikpenwa; High Chief Okechukwu Njokuoti; Hon. Prince Tony Nwonye; Hon. Oby Emelda Onwe and other distinguished stakeholders.
They all emphasized the importance of unity, discipline, effective grassroots mobilization, and collective commitment to ensuring the victory of the APC in forthcoming political engagements.
Hon. Prince Chidi Ekwe and Hon. Anayo Aja, representing the Distinguished Senator and the Member representing the Federal Constituency, conveyed goodwill messages from their principals.
They announced a generous financial support of ₦1,000,000 (One Million Naira) from the Senator and the Honourable Member of the House of Representatives towards the success and continued activities of the party, a gesture that was received with appreciation and applause.
The women support group, Umuada Peter Mba, Aninri Chapter, under the leadership of Hon. Mrs. Theresa Okafor (Ada Awgu), presented gifts to notable party leaders.
The Local Government Chairman, Hon. Prince Ugochukwu Nwanjoku, who was represented by High Chief Okechukwu Njokuoti, received gifts on his behalf.
Similarly, gifts were presented to: Rt. Hon. Engr. Magnus Ede; and The Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Barr. Lloyd Ekweremadu, who was represented by Chief Mike Chukwu (Ozoigbondu).
The gesture was widely applauded and described as a demonstration of appreciation for purposeful leadership and continued support for the party.
An Executive member of the APC at the State level, who attended as an official observer to monitor the proceedings of the meeting, was invited to address members.
In his remarks, he commended the Aninri APC Chapter for its remarkable unity, discipline, peaceful coexistence, and organizational strength. He described the Aninri Chapter as one of the most united and best-organized APC chapters in Enugu State, urging members to sustain the spirit of togetherness and teamwork that distinguishes the chapter.
The Deputy Mayor, Hon. Mrs. Oluchi Nwaru, also addressed members, encouraging them to remain steadfast and continue supporting the leadership of the party at every level.
The Member representing Aninri Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Engr. Magnus Ede, equally addressed the gathering, expressing appreciation to party members for their dedication and reassuring them of his continued commitment to delivering quality representation while supporting the growth and success of the APC in Aninri Local Government Area.
Following the successful deliberations and completion of all agenda items, the meeting was brought to a close with a closing prayer offered by the Vice Chairman of APC, Aninri Local Government, Mrs. Judith.
The meeting ended peacefully, with members leaving more united, energized, and committed to strengthening the party’s structures ahead of future political activities and electoral engagements.
The APC Aninri Local Government General Meeting of 27th June, 2026, was highly successful, well-attended, and impactful. It reinforced the party’s commitment to grassroots mobilization, organizational development, unity, and effective leadership. The successful presentation of polling unit leadership, fundraising for the proposed Party House, goodwill messages from party leaders, and active participation of stakeholders further demonstrated the readiness of the APC in Aninri Local Government Area to consolidate its structures and pursue greater political success.
