Scholes blasts Carrick after Man Utd’s 2-1 loss to Newcastle

Manchester United legend, Paul Scholes has aimed a dig at caretaker manager, Michael Carrick after the Red Devils’ 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United in the Premier League on Wednesday.

Carrick watched as Newcastle defeated Man United at St James’ Park, as Casemiro’s goal was not enough to give the visitors a point.

It was Carrick’s first defeat as Man United’s manager since his second return to Old Trafford in January.

Taking to Instagram after the game, Scholes, who had kicked against Man United appointing Carrick as permanent manager at the end of the season, claimed that the Red Devils have been ‘crap’ in their last four games under their caretaker manager.

“Michael has definitely got something special about him…cos Utd have been crap last 4 games night,” Scholes wrote.

Arteta says something as Arsenal go 7pts clear of Man City

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, is refusing to get carried away after his side opened a seven-point gap at the summit of the Premier League.

The Gunners pulled off a narrow 1-0 victory over Brighton, while Manchester City were held to a 2-2 draw by Nottingham Forest at the Etihad.

Bukayo Saka, who was the captain for Arsenal at the Amex, scored what proved to be the winner early in the first half.

This was a really difficult one after everything we’ve been through in the last few weeks,” Arteta told TNT Sports.

“Every game in the Premier League offers you different things. Big credit to the boys because the effort they put in is astronomical.”

On the seven-point gap between Arsenal and City, Arteta said: “We did what we had to do and that is what we will continue to do.”

Reasons why we lost to Newcastle, Carrick blasts Man Utd players

Manchester United head coach, Michael Carrick, has admitted his team did not play well against Newcastle in their 2-1 defeat on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils lost at St James Park, despite the hosts going down to 10 men with Jacob Ramsey’s sending off.

William Osula curled home the winner late in the second half, after Casemiro’s header cancelled out Anthony Gordon’s penalty.

“I don’t think it was the 10 men, we just didn’t play good enough,” Carrick told TNT Sports.

“We can’t make excuses for that. We all take responsibility for that.

“Newcastle deserved to win tonight, it hurts me to say that.

“That is how it was. We need to get back to work and be better for the next game.”

“Why we couldn’t beat Nottingham Forest in 1-1 draw”, Guardiola speaks

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has said they did everything possible against Nottingham Forest, but it wasn’t enough.

Guardiola’s men dropped points in the Premier League title race on Wednesday night, drawing 2-2 with Forest at the Etihad.

Antoine Semenyo gave City the lead in the first half, before Morgan Gibbs-White’s clever backheel levelled the game.

Rodri restored the lead for the hosts with a powerful header, but again, the visitors equalized with a fantastic effort from Elliott Anderson.

Guardiola told TNT Sports: “I am disappointed for the result. We did everything again, didn’t concede much, had chances at the end and during the game, but yeah, we keep going.

“Always we try to do the best, how they run and do it. At home it’s important [to win], but we keep going.”
