Court finally orders for Uche Nnaji’s arrest over certificate forgery

Chief Uche Nnaji would either have to turn himself up for arrest or be declared wanted. A Federal High Court in Abuja, on Thursday, has ordered the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to arrest the former minister of Innovation, Science and Technology.

InfoWars quoted Premium Times reports that Uche Nnaji has repeatedly refused to honour ICPC invitations. The development reached its head when the commission filed ex parte motion dated June 3 with a suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/1160/2026.

ICPC, through its lawyer, Osuobeni Akponimisingha, asked the court for a wider range of options with which to drag the fleeing ex-minister.

Specifically, the anti-graft agency wants the court to give it an order issuing a bench/warrant of arrest or directing operatives of the commission or other enforcement agents to identify and arrest him. The request also included that the court should grant that even a private citizen could identify and arrest Nnaji. And court has granted all of these, and even went further to rule that the order would only elapse upon the arrest of the former minister.

Uche Nnaji came a distant third in the 2023 gubernatorial elections. He was, however, recognised and made a minister in President Bola Tinubu’s administration. He didn’t stay much longer before Premium Times exposed that the minister was carrying fake UNN degree and NYSC certificates.

The development quickly metamorphosed to a national scandal, and he resigned his ministerial appointment. He has since dumped APC for PDP, where he clinched the governorship ticket ahead of 2027.
