I’ll stay in PDP until I die – Sule Lamido
A founding member of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said he would never leave the party.
He said this yesterday during PDP stakeholders’ meeting in Dutse, Jigawa State where party leaders came to discuss the future of the party.
“PDP is my political home. It may have problems, but it remains my home. I will not abandon it for another party”, Lamido said.
He criticised fair-weather politicians who dumped PDP and have been jumping from one party to another due to the challenges facing the nation’s once dominant party.
“They left their big home and now want to take over smaller parties built by others,” Lamido said, comparing politicians’ defection to abandoning one’s home because their is a difficulties.
He urged party loyalists to revalidate their membership online, while pushing for internal reform as solutions to the crisis rocking PDP.
On May 29, 1999, 30 PDP governors were inaugurated. But today, its only Bala Mohammed of Bauchi and Seyi Makinde Oyo States who are PDP governors. The two are under increasing pressure from APC, and PDP is almost certain to lose Bala Mohammed next week to defection.
