Is Sen Osita Ngwu, Prince Nwanjoku aware of this scandal? (Editorial)
Because that we have a lot of noises going on in Enugu West today, critical stakeholders may not have taken time to check the implications of ongoing scandal in Aninri. So I see the need to directly call on Sen Osita Ngwu, Hon Anayo Onwuegbu and Prince Ugochukwu Nwanjoku to take a look.
• “You’re in a mess,” APC stalwart tells Udengene as efforts to unseat him thicken
On Tuesday, around 1PM, men of FCID arrested Mr Onyeabor Christian (a.k.a Udengene) and are presently investigating him on the charge of document forgery.
While our leaders and the Enugu West public may have their misgivings or may not have seen the weight of this, I would want to remind them of the danger of negative public opinion at a time general elections is at hand.
Many petitions are already at the Ministry of Chieftaincy Affairs, and more are coming – all of them calling for Udengene’s immediate suspension as the President General of Amagu autonomous community for document forgery. And the possibility of this plunging Amagu community to violent unrest is very high.
• Aninri PG, 9 others to head to prison after being caught in document forgery
These pieces of information have since been lodged to appropriate places, including radio houses, national newspapers and countless blogs. Personally, I don’t have any fear of being “silence[d]” as I’ve already been promised. But I must warn of the dirty aftermaths, and of the overall implications on our respected leaders.
The last time I checked, Udengene is still retaining seats on the table of the distinguished Senator Osita Ngwu and Prince Ugochukwu Nwanjoku as aide. Why would any leader allow a man who is under police investigation for forgery and perjury, and who would soon be charged to court and possibly be sentenced for a whopping 28-year jail terms to keep working with him?
Whether the public would look at this that our dear senator and our beloved council chairman are both abetting crime is a possibility. Also, anyone could safely charge our leaders for negligence. Frankly, I don’t know how these noble leaders’ public image would look like should public opinion sway to a point where the word ‘complicit’ comes to mind because of their obvious silence.
In a civilised clime, Senator Osita Ngwu and Prince Ugochukwu Nwanjoku must sack Udengene immediately police arrested him for such odious allegations. As dates for Enugu State 2026 council elections, and 2027 general elections draw closer, let’s see what the people might say. Let’s also see what Governor Peter Mbah may think should he knows that a man who worked for Labour Party in 2023 elections is given two plush jobs in Enugu West.
• Prince Nwanjoku sets another record in Aninri council area
What would APC leadership at the State level say? What would be the opinion of the Lion Building? Anyone with conscience would chill at the idea that while so many party faithfuls are yet to have even one position for their contributions and suffering, an anti-party member is given two lucrative jobs.
Udengene didn’t just worked against PDP in 2023 elections, but he is also today a card-carrying member of ADC – a party he hopes would give him ticket to run for House of Representatives in 2027.
