FG raises Ministers’ money by 133% as workers suffer with ₦70,000 minimum wage

Federal Government has raised Ministers’ imprest to ₦700,000 from ₦300,000 a month, but refused workers’ cry over minimum wage.
Its good to note that imprest is not salary. Its the money mapped out for small expenses such as refreshments and office stationeries.
Prior report had it that Federal Government has slashed the imprest for ministries, departments, and agencies, MDAs. But that’s not true, Daily Post first reported.
“Imprest was increased for ministers and for others,” spokesperson of the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, Bawa Mokwa, reportedly said.
What the new increases means is that Ministers have ₦700,000 imprest per month, rising from initial ₦300,000. The permanent secretaries or directors general’s new imprest stands at ₦500,000 while heads of department received ₦300,000.
Meanwhile, workers still suffer under the weight rising cost of living in Nigeria with mere ₦70,000 minimum wage. Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) have been at loggerheads with the government over this – demanding an increase up to ₦1-million-salary per worker on monthly basis. But, always, the government fights back. The Nigerian Governors Forum has firmly said the highest the workers can have is ₦100,000 monthly salary.
