Engr Magnus Ede emerges APC consensus candidate for Enugu State Assembly

Member representing Aninri constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon Magnus Ede, has emerged the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In the parties primaries conducted yesterday, Ede had no opponents and was given the party’s flag.

Commenting on the “successful primaries”, the chairman of Aninri local government area, Prince Ugochukwu Nwanjoku, said Ede truly earned the return.
“He has been a true party man and great legislator. Hon. Engr Magnus Ede really earned the return,” Nwanjoku said.
Engr Magnus Ede won the state Assembly seat on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023, defeating number of candidates from mushroom parties in the zone. But he defected to APC in 2025 alongside Governor Peter Mbah and many others.
However, media attacks had intensified at the buildup of the party congresses, with constituents who nursed interest to challenge Hon Ede throwing muds. The dirty campaigns didn’t register with the governor who himself endorse Ede for return.
According to a reliable source from the Government House, Governor Mbah counts heavily on the lawmaker and ranks him among the best 8 in the 24-member Assembly.
Again, Engr Magnus Ede would be facing “mushroom” candidates in the general election, an exercise various analysts already described as “victorious”.
If Ede wins in 2027, he would be the second Aninri man to ever get reelected to the House. Hon Abel Chukwu, former Speaker of the State Assembly, occupied the seat three terms. Late Hon Mathias Ekweremadu and Hon Chinedu Okwu served one term each.
