Edmund Ukoha, Esq.
Counsel to Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu, FNSE
RE: FULL RETRACTION AND UNRESERVED APOLOGY TO ENGR. ANAYO ONWUEGBU, FNSE
Dear Sir,
I write in respect of your letter on behalf of your client, Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu, FNSE, Member representing Aninri/Awgu/Oji-River Federal Constituency, concerning the publications authored by me and published on my platform, Info Wars HQ, on the 26th and 27th of February 2026 titled:
“LEAKED: How Anyayo Onwuegbu gives ₦53M for Aninri protests”; and
“ANINRI PROTESTS: Hon Anayo Onwuegbu called me, making threats.”
Upon a careful and objective review of the facts available to me, I have come to the sober realization that the said publications were based on information that was not properly verified and which has now proven to be false and misleading. I acknowledge that I was misled by sources whose claims I ought to have subjected to more rigorous scrutiny before making them public.
I hereby unequivocally and unreservedly retract in full all allegations contained in the above-mentioned publications, particularly the claims that Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu sponsored protests with the sum of ₦53,000,000.00, engaged in any plot to destabilize Aninri Local Government, unlawfully influenced judicial processes, threatened to deploy security agencies against me, or engaged in any form of criminal or unethical conduct.
I admit that those allegations were not supported by verifiable evidence and should not have been presented as statements of fact. I deeply regret the distress, embarrassment and reputational injury which the publications may have caused Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu, his family, supporters, and associates.
As a journalist and publisher, I recognize the weighty responsibility that accompanies the freedom of expression. In this instance, I fell short of the professional standards of due diligence and fairness expected in responsible journalism. For that lapse in judgment, I take full responsibility.
Accordingly:
The said publications have been completely removed from the Info Wars HQ website and all affiliated social media platforms.
A public notice of this retraction and apology shall be published with equal prominence to the earlier reports.
I undertake to refrain from publishing any further defamatory or unverified material concerning Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu.
I sincerely apologize to Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu, FNSE, for the harm and inconvenience occasioned by my actions. It was never my intention to malign his person or undermine his office, and I deeply regret the consequences of this publication.
Kindly convey my unreserved apology to your client.
Yours faithfully,
Jude Ogbonna
