Not every Fulani is a bandit – Portable
Controversial singer Portable has weighed into the ongoing debate of insecurity in Nigeria. Condemning ethic profiling, the singer said that it was wrong for people to assume that everyone who is a Fulani is a bandit.
That’s ethic profiling and it should be stopped, Portable said, urging Nigerians to rethink this.
“Please, let’s stop making mistakes by labelling all Fulani as bandits. Me, I am not included. Because you see a squad of Fulani inside a bus, you will just conclude that they are bandits. They are not bandits,” the singer said.
He said Fulani tribe is often unjustly condemned. As far as the zazu coroner is concerned, that’s not just how to fight banditry. It’s also a very dangerous assumption, too, he opined.
His appeal is coming at the wake of sustained security threats in southwestern state of Oyo where dozens of schoolchildren and teachers were kidnapped recently by gunmen.
