Napoli terminates Antonio Conte’s contract a year before expiry

Napoli has terminated its contract with Antonio Conte ahead of one year when it’d formally expired.

Conte is a great football manager. A former Inter Milan, Chelsea and Tottenham boss, he has guided Napoli to fourth Serie A title last year.

But there is a problem – which appears to be the reason he is having his contract cancelled. Although he won Italian Super Cup in December last year, his performance this season was embarrassing. Napoli finished 11 points behind champions Inter Milan.

Announcing Conte’s departure, the club thanked him in a statement, added it was an agreement reached.

“SSC Napoli announces that an agreement has been reached with Antonio Conte and his staff to part ways before the natural expiry of their contracts,” the statement read in part.
