Nollywood is facing a lot of losses these days. Weeks after actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, died, his colleague is dead.
Atinuke Remilekun Kareem has died of breast cancer. Her death was announced yesterday by Owolabi Ajasa, the Executive Governor of Ogun State chapter of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria.
Before her death, Kareem spoke on an emotional video clip, telling public of her problems and seeking financial assistance.
“I’m a breast cancer patient. It has been going on for a while. My family has spent a lot of money; I’ve come to seek help. The association I belong to, TAMPAN, has tried too, but it’s not enough,” she said.
She also said in the video that she had two young children who needed support as her condition couldn’t allow her to take care of them.
“Don’t allow me to die this way; I have two young children. Nigerians, please help me with any amount you can use to help,” Kareem said.
TAMPAN’s Public Relations Officer, Femi Solaja, on behalf of Ajasa, thanked those who have contributed in one way or the other in the course of trying to save the actress.
