It was a sad day for Ebonyi State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Stanley Mbam as Governor Francis Nwifuru finally sacked him earlier today.

The development was communicated through the Public Service Announcement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Monday Uzor. The sack became effective as it was communicated, with Nwifuru directing that administrative responsibilities of the Ministry of Works be transferred to ministry’s Permanent Secretary immediately.

Engr Mbam was also ordered to handover any government properties at his possession, including his official vehicle.

“The Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, FNIOB, FCAI, GGCEHF has directed the immediate removal from office of the Honourable Commissioner for Works, Engr. Stanley Lebechi Mbam,” the statement read in part.

There is no part of it which stated exactly the offense Mbam committed that warranted that abrupt termination. Earlier this year, on February, Nwifuru suspended Mbam alongside the Commissioner for Infrastructure Development for Concession, Engr. Ogbonnaya Obasi-Abara, on the basis that they weren’t showing seriousness in their duties.
