INEC declares APC’s Biodun Oyebanji winner of Ekiti guber election
Candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has won the Ekiti State governorship election held yesterday.
Biodun Oyebanji polled 319,224 votes to defeat Wole Oluyede, his PDP contender who came a distant second with 40,543 votes. The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Oluwadare Bejide, came third in the race with 12,872 votes.
Other mushroom political parties and their governorship candidates who filled the ballots include Akande Oluwasegun Samuel (AAC), Opeyemi Falegan (Accord), Ayodeji Ojo (ADP), Bidemi Olaiya Awogbemi (APP), Oyebanji Ikusayedegbe Olajuyin (Labour Party), Abegunde Ayobami Blessing (NNPP), Olaniyi Olanrewaju Ayodele (PRP), Owoola Daramola (YPP), and Victor Damilola Adetunji (ZLP).
Many saw the election as true test of what 2027 general elections would look like. APC dominance is ironclad, and easy reelection of Biodun Oyebanji yesterday makes it louder.
