The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) said it has made telecommunication companies to send free airtime to 75 million unique subscribers in 2026 alone.
NCC Executive Vice Chairman Aminu Maida disclosed this at 95th Telecom Consumer Parliament in Lagos recently. Maida said they were doing their best to hold telecommunication companies to account for consumers satisfaction.
According to him, the commission’s part of efforts is to ensure that telecom service providers adhere strictly to ethics, always having to explain major outages as well as given clear timelines when they would restore service.
