“Go to hell,” Kenneth Okonkwo responds to Peter Obi’s legal threat, shares evidence

Veteran Nollywood Kenneth Okonkwo is not afraid of Mr Peter Obi. He is out again this morning at the national TV to denounce the NDC presidential candidate whom he had earlier called a “political con man”.

During an interview in Channels Television programme yesterday, Kenneth Okonkwo alleged that Peter Obi defrauded NDC aspirants for House of Representatives during the party’s primary elections.

The same yesterday, Obi, through his legal team, sued the actor, demanding immediate retraction and public apology if he doesn’t want to face a ₦2-billion law suit.

Kenneth Okonkwo didn’t back down. Instead, he doubled down on his earlier statement and furnished the public with evidences to prove that Peter Obi “scam” his party men.

He shared the receipt of the illicit payment the NDC aspirants were forced to pay. He went further, also shared his private discussion with Obunike Ohaegbu, an NDC House of Representatives aspirant for the Nnewi North/South/Ekwusigo Federal Constituency.

“Obunike Ohaegbu, when I questioned him to prove that Peter Obi was responsible for demanding the N10m from him and other HOR aspirants and N20m from the Senate aspirants, he made it clear that when he confronted the Party on who authorised the payment, the party named Peter Obi and the caucus leaders who were assembled by Peter Obi,” Kenneth Okonkwo said.

As a matter of policy, NDC political aspirants are legally required to pay solely for Expression of Interest forms. And it’s only verified primary winners who are permitted to make further payment, according to the party’s guidelines.

While speaking yesterday, Okonkwo had added that Peter Obi personally wrote the list of NDC candidates at John Wood Hotel in Abuja.

“Please tell me, if a person said that Peter Obi was writing list of aspirants in John Wood Hotel, Abuja, who didn’t win election in NDC, to become candidates for NDC, what else is criminality? He even stated clearly that Peter Obi wrote Senator Victor Umeh’s name as a candidate when he lost,” the actor added.

During the 2023 presidential elections, Peter Obi ran on the mantra that he was almost a saint, with zero propensity for corrupt behaviours. He has already started presenting himself, again, as an angel.

Kenneth Okonkwo’s recent revelations are not just timely, but also coordinated enough to be able to finish the NDC presidential candidate ahead of 2027 election.
