“You, Gov. Peter Mbah will go again”, Nenwe endorse Engr. Edeh

In a significant town hall meeting held yesterday, June 27, 2026, the Enugunato community of Uhueze Nenwe gathered to reaffirm their unwavering support for Hon. Magnus Nnaemeka Ede, Member representing Aninri Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly. The community described him as a son they have known since childhood and one they remain proud of, citing his consistent kindness and good-hearted nature.

The town hall meeting drew representatives from various hamlets including Umuogbe, Ugwuegu, Umuelekechite, Umuoke Evi, Umuchime, Umuagom, Umudebia, and Eleagu. Each hamlet was represented by their Chairman, Vice Chairman, Woman Leader, and Youth Leader.

In a display of cultural significance, each hamlet presented kola nuts—referred to as “Ike Aji”—which in Igbo tradition and particularly in Nenwe, represents the highest ritual of good fortune and affirmation. This ceremonial act symbolized their prayers for their son’s continued prosperity.

The community leadership, including the Chairman of the community who led prayers alongside the elders, emphasized that Hon. Ede has remained unchanged throughout his journey. They expressed gratitude to the Enugu State Governor for what they described as a “heroic endorsement” of their son, praying that the blessings bestowed upon him would extend throughout his political career.

A formal letter of endorsement was presented to Hon. Ede, serving as both a mark of honor and a reiteration of their support for his second term in office.

In his address, Hon. Magnus Ede reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance. He praised the Governor of Enugu State as a “God-sent” leader whose dedication to rural development has been remarkable. He highlighted several notable projects including:

· Smart schools established across all wards in the state
· Type C Hospital initiatives
· The upgrading of Courtage Hospital to a teaching hospital
· The upcoming construction of ten kilometers of roads across various wards

Addressing the community directly, Ede acknowledged that if he were not a son of good reputation, they might not have gathered to host him. He corrected a common misconception, explaining that he does not broadcast every action publicly, noting that charity should remain a personal matter between an individual and their conscience (chi), not a tool for political grandstanding. He concluded by embracing the spirit of togetherness.

Hon. Magnus Okoroma thanked the Enugunato community, noting that the gathering reflected core traditional values of Nenwe. He assured the community that this support confirms that Hon. Ede is a man whose “charity begins at home.” He also reminded them that Ede represents not just Enugunato but the entire Aninri Constituency, urging continued prayers and support.

Other speakers emphasised that the people of Enugu have demonstrated that their son is worthy of emulation, highlighting his political inclusiveness and exemplary narrative.

As one speaker aptly noted, “Politics is not measured on social media but on one’s relationship with his people.” This sentiment captured the essence of the gathering—a community standing firmly behind a leader they know personally and trust implicitly.
