Benue State Police Command ha announced it had arrested 46 people in connection to attack on Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
Recall that youths blocked Obi’s convoy on Tuesday while on his way to Yelwata in Benue, where he was billed to meet and commiserate with victims of the June 2025 attacks.
The attack has since drawn sharp criticism across party divides, with many prominent Nigerians calling for thorough investigation into the matter. It may be Peter Obi today, while it may be another opposition elements next time, the arguement goes. Benue State Government has since denied having neither knowledge nor hands in the attack.
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Cletus Nwadiogbu, warned yesterday that police is ready to brutal crush political intolerance in all its forms as general elections approach.
