Ex-Gov Fayose reveals who’s behind Oyo schoolchildren’s abduction

Former Ekiti State governor has been a highly controversial person. After some years of less highlights in the media, Ayodele Fayose is back in the headlines again.
He pointedly accused Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde of “orchestrating” the kidnapping of schoolchildren in the state in order to embarrass the presidency.

“I sometimes believe that the abduction at Oyo School was orchestrated by the Oyo State Government to blackmail President Tinubu,” Fayose said during an interview on television. According to him, a call for the presidency to take action was issued immediately after the abduction while there was no action towards the emergency by Oyo State government.
“Let me branch to Oyo State, before you get to the president in the hierarchy of leadership and governance, there is local government, there is state, state has security votes and there are people that are supposed to be working,” the controversial former governor added.
Recall that gunmen swooped on Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele, abducted dozens of schoolchildren and teachers, and shot dead one teacher on the spot.
The incident has since generated tensions across the country, with workers in Oyo striking in protest.
In a separate incident, gunmen also kidnapped over 50 schoolchildren in three different schools in Borno State last week. The victims’ age ranged between two and five, BBC reported.
Fayose’s allegation is coming at this boiling point, and has since sparked debate across Nigeria.
