The Enugu State Commissioner of Police Mr Mamman Giwa has deployed hundreds of police officers ahead of the Local Government elections holding tomorrow, September 26. This was disclosed earlier today in a press statement by the spokesperson of the State police command, SP Daniel Ndukwe.

Infowars reported that Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) scheduled chairmanship and councillorship elections tomorrow.

According to Mr Giwa, there would be no human and vehicular movement between 8am and 4pm. The restriction, include everyone except, of course, those serving essential duties in the elections. But the police chief didn’t stop there. Specifically, he warned that quasi-security outfits including neighbourhood watchmen would be doing themselves harm if they assume any roles unsolicited during the exercise; they were equally ordered not to escort VIPs to the polling units.

While urging the electorate to come out without fear to exercise their civic rights, the commissioner dropped police hotlines and encouraged the residents to report any suspicious acts.

“The electorate and the public are urged to promptly report suspicious persons and activities capable of undermining the peaceful conduct of the elections to the nearest police station.

“They can call 08032003702, 08086671202 or 08021709005,” Giwa said.

Enugu is made up of 17 local government areas, and divided into 260 wards.
