- An Open Letter To His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Enugu State
An appeal for intervention over implementation of polling Units Stakeholders meeting directive in Awgu LGA.
We, the concerned stakeholders of Awgu Local Government Area, write with utmost respect and Loyalty to your administration to bring to your attention our concern over regarding the implementation of your recent directive on polling unit stakeholders meetings.
On or about 2nd day of October, 2026,you graciously directed that all stakeholders should hold polling unit stakeholders meetings across the state and that the sum of one hundred thousand naira per polling unit be released for entertainment/logistics.
Contrary to the directive,what was implemented in Awgu Local Government Area was the release of one hundred thousand naira per political ward,and not per polling unit as directed. This has made it difficult for polling unit stakeholders to properly organise the meeting as intended.
We are concerned that this shortfall may undermine the objective of the exercise which is to strengthen grassroots engagement ahead of 2027 general elections. We also note a growing disconnect between the Council leadership and major stakeholders in the Local Government Area which is affecting mobilisation.
We respectfully appeal to your Excellency to:
- Cause an inquiry into how the funds for polling unit stakeholders meeting were disbursed in Awgu Local Government Area
- Direct that your Original directive of one hundred thousand naira per polling unit be complied with
- Call the leadership of the Council to a closer engagement with Stakeholders to foster unity and Loyalty to your administration
