The chairman of Ugheli North local government area in Delta State said that “heaven will not fall” as he vowed to deal with the opposition in his council.
Olorogun Jaro Egbo was reacting to the recent activities of a man organising for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in the State, Tobore Alex Agbah. Agbah has led 10,000-Man match on Saturday – the activities he said was aimed at mobilising support for the NDC candidates in Delta State.
However, while he was on the streets, he got a call from home, from his wife. Local Government officials were in their house, sealing it and marking it for demolition.
Agbah must have been shocked to the marrow for what he told pressmen yesterday.
“While we were on the march, my wife called me that they were coming to see my property and demolish it. We thought it was a joke.
“But this afternoon, as I was coming from church, before I could get to my house, they called me that the local government chairman had sealed my property,” Agba said, added that his ordeal was politically motivated for it was because of “10,000-Man march against APC”.
Saying he wasn’t aware of breaking any law, the NDC activist added that the council didn’t give him earlier notice and that some other council chairmen had come and gone without tampering with his property. Agbah also alleged that the council chairman, whom he said was once a fellow comrade in the struggle, had vowed to frustrate him for fighting against APC in Delta State.
However, the council chairman denied the allegation. Olorogun Jaro Egbo said the NDC activist’s house was under high-tension electricity line, adding that his officials had notified Agbah severally in the that regard.
“The particular sealed property was built under high-tension wire. As a matter of fact, my officials told me that they have written to him several times, but he refused to obey simple environmental regulations,” he said.
While acknowledging the rights of opposition, the chairman added that such rights doesn’t include breaking the law of the state. He also accused Agbah of moving around with NDC branded vehicles without paying the prescribed charges for mobile advertising. Egbo vowed to also go after the NDC activist in the regard.

“On the branded bus, he branded the vehicle without paying for mobile advert.
