Enugu State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reacted to the allegation that it sponsored attacks in Obuofia.
Recall that members of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) at Obuofia Nkanu in Nkanu West local government area in the state were allegedly attacked on Saturday. Thugs disrupted their meetings, and some persons reportedly sustained gunshot injuries in the process.

Prominent NDC members in the state has since condemned the act, with the National Publicity Secretary, OSA Director, Esq., releasing emotional reactions in name of statement and describing the assailants as “state-sponsored thugs”.
However, APC State Publicity Secretary, Chief Uche Obute, in a statement made available to InfoWars earlier today, called NDC hasty accusations “misleading” and “unsubstantiated”.
Chief Obute urged relevant security agencies to investigate the attacks and to have the perpetrators face the law. He insisted that Governor Peter Mbah-led administration has prioritised security and the rule of law, wondering how NDC could reconcile its allegations in the face of this fact.
“The APC has nothing to fear from a transparent investigation and will continue to uphold the principles of democracy, justice and the rule of law,” Chief Obute said, urged members of the party to remain calm and law-abiding despite the opposition’s offensive rhetorics.
Aide to Chief Chinyeaka Ohaa, NDC gubernatorial candidate, released names of the members who sustained injuries during the violent assault. The victims are: Onovo Donald Ekene, Ngene Godwin Madueke, Ogbodo Gloria, Onovo Victor, Maduabuchi Ugwu, Nnaemeka Nelson, Chinonso Nwagbara and Obinna Daniel Owo.
Spokesperson of the Enugu State Police Command, SP Daniel Ndukwe, has confirmed the attack. The command also confirmed separate attack on a Peoples Democratic Party rally at St Joseph Primary School, Agbani, in Nkanu West, where thugs invaded the venue to destroy canopies and chairs.
