Abia State Governor has now weighed in the hot controversies surrounding Mr Peter Obi. Speaking at a recent event, Otti said he was privy to some information regarding the money Obi have been saying he had left in Anambra treasuries the time he finished as a governor in 2014.

“Why I want to speak about it is that, in the media there has been accusations and counter-accusations about the money he left in Anambra State,”
Governor Otti began, added that he was a “participant at that time – 2013, 2014 – I’ll like to again reinstate the Peter Obi actually left the money he said he left.”
Otti went further, said he was the CEO of Diamond Bank at that time so it was him that Peter Obi met. Obi wanted to leave the money in cash with the bank. But Otti suggested that it be invested in Euro bonds.
“He wanted to leave the money in cash and I said no. We strategize and invest the money in Euro bonds. I personally help him exchange naira to dollars, about $155 million,” Alex Otti continued.
Obi’s campaigns in 2023 and for 2027 elections resonate with voters specifically for the reason of his frugality and perceived ability to manage economy. At every opportunity, the former governor has touted how he improved his state as the governor between 2006 and 2014.
During Arise TV interview days ago Obi maintained that he didn’t own any worker or contractor or pensioner by the time he left office in 2014, and then he challenged Anambra State Government that he would end his presidential bid if it could prove he owe.
However, Governor Charles Soludo-led administration came up with rather indicting allegations yesterday. In a statement by the Anambra State commissioner for information and value orientation Law Mefor, the administration said Obi left $123.77 million debt.
The rebuttal has since generated reactions, with the presidency mocking the NDC presidential candidate and asking him to be true to his words and end his presidential campaign.
