More things are falling apart in Aninri APC as critical stakeholders continued to play into the hands of the opposition. They make one mistake today, and tomorrow correct it with even more grievous mistakes. They call it politics – politics of “you watch my back and I watch yours”.
But that’s madness. While they watch and probably playing the sycophants, the name of APC senator, Distinguished Sen Ostia Ngwu, is being dragged to the mud.
How it Started
In 2024 the present administration in Amagu Oduma autonomous community promised villagers it would do an “administrative building” at Obodo Ishi-Enyi in the community. In a twinkle of an eye wealthy natives raised several millions of naira.
When the project was started, more people, including the less wealthy persons began to support. Then, taxes and levies were introduced. People who violated certain principles of the community are fined a huge amount of money or are tasked to bring loads of bricks for the building. Apart from these, Amagu women and youth rural dwellers volunteer at certain intervals to provide free labour at the building site.
However, the community woke up sometimes in April to see a big signpost near the building. Amagu had once been told that Sen Osita Ngwu supported the project with ₦1 million, but what the signpost bore was to shock the natives up till today.
Boldly written on the board was that the senator is fully responsible for this project. The people were disappointed, but all those who spoke out have to face severe persecution from leaders of the community who, obviously, have a lot of skeletons in their cupboard. So far, enough interests have been generated on social media and several aides to Senator Ngwu are aware of the controversy. They’ve kept quiet. Even though the senator must have seen that, he had, conspicuously, kept quiet too.
This time, little kids have made video of the obvious “theft”, calling out the senator and alleging fowl play in the face of the dark shadows that have continued to shroud the unholy secrecy behind the project and, of course, several other shady deals by the present administration in the remote autonomous.
Yet, the silence remains, leading to suspicion on Senator Ngwu’s representation. His silence is not only seen as an affront to the people of Amagu Oduma community, but it also raises series of moral questions.
Could it be that the senator actually paid in full for the building while someone swallowed the fund and still managed to have been swindling the community of their hard-earned millions of naira for the same project? Why all the silence? Does Ngwu really have real claims to several other “constituency projects” with his name in several other Enugu West communities? If he’s not benefiting from the lie that the Amagu “administrative building” is his “constituency project” then why is he silent over it? Are there other lies in the constituency that the senator might be helping to cover? Who is fooling who? Does he think Enugu West voters are fools?
Weeks before the senator launches his reelection campaign ahead of 2027 elections, his integrity is being called to question by the viral video clips of these kids. If the elders are lying, then what about the little children? If votes of little Amagu community doesn’t matter, is worthy to remain the man of the constituency?
While the senator is placed so high that he can claim with impunity projects that are not his, he should remember that nobody can “fool all the people all of the times.” This is obviously not Amagu question, but the entire constituency’s.
