The presidency has responded to Nigerians who are asking for explanations on why President Bola Tinubu should be abroad for too long. He could rule Nigeria from “anywhere in the world”, was that explanations came.
Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, made the clarification on a post he shared on X. According to him, the rights of the president of Nigeria allow him to still be in full control of the government’s daily businesses even while away in foreign lands.
“It is funny how opposition candidates are asking the question who is in charge of Nigeria simply because the President and Vice President are out of the country.
“As commander in chief of the armed forces, he can order, direct, delegate and/or administer the constitution of Nigeria anywhere in the world,” Bwala said.
Recall that the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, recently called for explanations on Tinubu’s continued absence.

Meanwhile, Bwala added that Tinubu has extended his stay few more days and wouldn’t be back until weekend. According to him, the president has been in touch with every details through regular contact with the government officials, and so has effectively been ruling the country from abroad. The vice-president Kashim Shettima is also abroad at the moment. He is currently at New York City, United States, participating in the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
