To the good people of Enugu State, WAKE UP!
What we are witnessing in the public service announcement released on September 4, 2026 is nothing short of a political calculation game — a desperate attempt to secure power ahead of the upcoming election season.
For years, the core institutions that form the backbone of our state’s tertiary education and public service were abandoned. Institutions like IMT, ESUT, and ESCET had no functional governing councils. Leadership was incomplete. Systems decayed. Staff welfare stalled. Students suffered in silence.
Where was this urgency then? Why did it take the fast approach of the gubernatorial race for Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah to suddenly remember that IMT, ESUT, ESCET, and the Civil Service Commission needed governing boards?
This is the strategy of use and dump
Do not be deceived by the flurry of names released by the Secretary to the State Government. This is not reform. This is political patronage designed to buy influence, mobilize local machinery, and appease disgruntled power brokers just in time for elections.
History has taught us a bitter lesson: Before the polls: You will be showered with appointments, titles, and promises of inclusion. After the polls: Once the political ambition is secured, these same appointees — and the rest of Enugu State — will be thrown into the cold, neglected, and left to face administrative “hell” in a second term.
Appointment is not development of infrastructure in rural areas
Example in Awgu LGA, He gave four (4) different appointments in Mgbowo community, some of the people he gave appointments can’t even drive to their various homes due to bad road. No single rural communities including the urban can boast of water, which is the basic amenity he promised. Appointment cannot change the life of Local communities.
Remember the cost
Enugu State has suffered too much to fall for this age-old political gimmick. We have seen how citizens paid the price while those in power prioritized political survival over genuine governance.
To those newly appointed: Do not celebrate too quickly.
You are being used as political pawns on a chessboard aimed strictly at getting what the governor wants. Once the ballot boxes are sealed, the real face of this administration will emerge.
NDI ENUGU, USE YOUR BRAIN. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY LAST-MINUTE POLITICAL BAIT
