Victor Osimhen stole the spotlight in the Erzurumspor vs Galatasaray clash yesterday. The Gala 4-0 resounding victory is their first win in Süper Lig season. That’s exactly what they needed after losing points with the 2-2 draw against Çorum FK at their home.
Erzurumspor FK had come with enormous pressure at the first minutes of the game, dominating their visitors with intensity. Their reign was short-lived, however. It didn’t take too long before Galatasaray settled and found space they needed to wreck the havoc, thanks to Barış Alper Yılmaz for utilising his speed.
Only 11 minutes into the game Roland Sallai took advantage of the rebound in the penalty area and scored the first goal.
The next goal came at quick succession when Erzurumspor played into Osimhen’s hand in the midfield. The Nigerian burst forward and dropped the ball to Yunus Akgün who doubled the advantage decisively.
After this point there were other moments when Galatasaray weren’t in control of the pitch. But it was obvious that their earlier advantage boosted their morale and enabled them play with much confidence. What they did was to simply hope the desperation of their opponents would create more chances which was what happened. So Galatasaray were contented to settle with exploiting each and all of these advantages.
A little time before first half was over Erzurumspor made another mistake. Yakup Kırtay’s failed attempt to play the ball back to Matija Orbanić simply blessed Galatasaray again. Victor Osimhen lept in to cement their lead, making it 3-0 in exactly 44th minute.
It was the Nigeria’s forward’s third goal of the season.
Again, Erzurumspor started the second half with intensity obviously hoping to put life into the game through early goal. Moments after moments the host reached the penalty area, but all the time met well organised adversary.
All the while Galatasaray held tight on their advantage and still on a lookout for opportunities. And the opportunity did arrive at exactly 79th minute. Gabriel Sara delivered a cross at the penalty area which Osimhen properly utilised to conclude the 4-0 irreparable damage.
The Nigerian now has four goals in two Süper Lig matches, after also scoring twice against Çorum in the season opener.
The outcomes of the Erzurumspor vs Galatasaray match made certain things more salient, one of those things is that Osimhen is out for the season with fire.
