The chieftain of the Labour Party, Abayomi Arabambi, is obviously seeking to be noticed. He has sued the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), alleging the institution rejected his request for Peter Obi’s academic records of 1984.

According to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), originating motion was filed by Arabambi’s lawyer, Anderson Asemota, on September 9 at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

He named the Vice-Chancellor and UNN as 1st and 2nd respondents, demanding that they be compelled to release Obi’s records in accordance with FoI Act, 2011.

“The applicant also requested a Certified True Copy of the certificate, academic record or other official records upon which the said degree was predicated” Arabambi said in the court’s document released yesterday.

He said the request was delivered and received by the school on August 6, but has since given him only silent response.

“The respondents failed and/or neglected to provide the requested information within the period prescribed by the Act,” he said.

Arabambi was once a factional spokesperson of Labour Party.

Mr Peter Obi was the presidential candidate of Labour Party in 2023, and the presidential candidate of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for 2027 election.
