The fight to plant the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu is a very difficult fight. But Prince Ugochukwu Nwanjoku is doing his best on Aninri front.
Yet another wealthy constituent, a US-based businessperson, has supported Nwanjoku’s council chairmanship reelection bid. Mr. Chidiebere Orji gifted the campaign with a brand new Sienna XLE car. During the gift presentation in the zone one Tuesday, Orji said it was his “token” of appreciation to a “working council chairman”.

Mr Orji, who schooled with the chairman and who has been his close friend for years, said he wasn’t surprised at the man Nwanjoku has become, citing the chairman’s early signs of being a great leader.
“Nwanjoku has been a leadership material since our school days. I am not surprised that he is making his friends, his school and Aninri proud”, Orji said, added that “during our school days, we fondly nicknamed him “leader of boys”. Today that nickname has evolved into a real leadership responsibility as he continues to serve the people of Aninri.For me to personally encourage Ugoo is to support his re-election so that his good works to humanity can continue”.
Mr Orji is the latest nonpolitical big fish the chairman has drawn to Aninri politics. Since his surprising ascendency in 2024, Nwanjoku has not only successfully united the zone’s warring factions. But he has also expanded his politics far beyond the traditional lines to include extremely accomplished business leaders, technocrats and academics.
“He (Prince Nwanjoku) seems to be after everyone. And his results are showing. For the first time, our prominent sons and daughters are now looking towards home, thinking of helping in term of politics. Also we haven’t heard or seen peace for a long time in Aninri. But all these we’re seeing today because of this young man”, Mr Nweze Simeon, APC chieftain from the area told InfoWars.
In 2024 Prince Ugochukwu Nwanjoku was handpicked to be Aninri chairman by Governor Peter Mbah. Months ago, the governor “anointed” him again for a second term.
Apart from Prince Tony Nwonye, former chairman of Aninri local government area, there has never been any other man to occupy the seat from opposition party. And the so-called members of the mushroom political parties, including NDC, PDP and ADC have since abandoned their umbrella to openly declare for APC in the 2026 Council elections and the 2027 general elections.
