For the candidates jostling for Aninri/Awgu/Oji River federal constituency seat, the race for 2027 polls is not starting next year. It is now.

Former Chairman of Oji River local government area, Hon Chinedu Onyeagba (a.k.a Omex Global), is giving Hon. Anayo Onwuegbu some sleepless night. He has already made several bold claims, and refused to relax them as he fearlessly confronted what he termed “lies” from his only most powerful opponent from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He has shared screenshots of his chats with one Ichie Benson Eze, Onwa of Akpugoeze. In the purported evidence, he alleged the Ichie, acting on Hon. Onwuegbu’s behalf, wanted to lure him to the lawmaker’s home where he would be offered ₦1 billion bribe to step down.

The chat read: “Good morning sir Hon Omex Global. I’m Ichie Benson Eze, Onwa n’Akpugoeze. We discussed on Saturday 26 Sept in my village house concerning your side with Omeihukwu. I have discussed with him and we agreed to meet on Sunday 11 October by 11am here in Enugu. I will communicate the venue to you before then please. Please, adjust your busy schedule to accommodate the date and time. God bless you in all your endeavours IJn. Ichie Benson Eze, Onwa n’Akpugoeze (Ogene Ohaukwu Kingdom),” (sic).

In another instance, replying a social media user who said that Omex was “broke”, the fiery candidate insisted he wouldn’t be rejecting ₦1 billion if he was “broke”.

“Someone who refuses more than 1 billion is broke,” Omex said.

Hon. Chinedu Onyeagba is the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for House of Representatives candidates for Aninri/Awgu/Oji River federal constituency. One of the nine others seeking to unseat Onwuegbu, Omex Global is tearing social media apart, effectively shrinking Onwuegbu’s support base with surprising ease.
