Akwuke community are awaiting the Enugu South Local Government chairman Hon Caleb Ani, readying themselves for bloc votes as his campaign for reelection enters Day-2. The venue at MTN Mast is already packed with over 9,000 enthusiastic supporters.

One of the five major towns that makes up Enugu South council areas, Akwuke has a population of over 311,000. Various community leaders, including the president of of Akwuke town union Hon Oliver Edeh (a.k.a Ugwu Na Amiami); APC stalwarts as well as critical stakeholders are present at the rally to endorse the young chairman.
“His Excellency (Caleb Ani) is good to us,” said Cordelia Ugwu, a petty beer parlour owner in the community, added that “we can see various footprints” of Hon Ani.
Indeed, the council boss has installed transformers in Akwuke, renovated several primary schools and equipped heath centers in Akwuke.
“Hon Caleb Ani has done more than some past Local Government chairmen did here for us. And he is just a 2-year old in the seat,” Ngene Alor told InfoWars .
Although Akwuke – a relatively less populous town among Enugu South suburban communities, their political strength has always lied in their ability to coordinate more than others and impact election results with bloc votes.
At the surface, this community appear disunited. However, beneath the obvious rivalries lies a deep, cultural bond that – according to legends – is the reasons they’ve conquered many bigger foes in the stone age.
So their assurance of a bloc vote is a big win for Caleb Ani even as the opposition parties’ candidates continue to recline in obscurity just weeks before the polls.
Enugu South local government area is made of major towns of Uwani, Akwuke, Amechi, Ugwuaji, Obeagu, and Awkunanaw. The headquarters is located at Uwani.
