Task Force Officials has allegedly beaten a Keke man to death inside Garrik terminal in Enugu metropolis. The incident occurred yesterday night.
According to the story, deceased, one Mr Friday Ani, was at his early 50s and was a father of five children. Mr Ani was from Akegbe-Ugwu, outskirts of Enugu city.
When the incident happened, he was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead. His remains have been deposited in St. Martin’s Mortuary, Enugu.
However, the circumstances surrounding the man’s tragic death have remained contested. While one account said he was beaten over the daily ticket he had refused to pay, another account linked his death to cult-related disagreement. Yet another account said a passenger he carried dropped off at the gate before Mr Friday could enter inside the park.
“I learned that the Keke operator was beaten to death by some cultists the terminal operators deployed to enforce daily ticket collection,” SaharaReporters quoted one Chika Emeh as saying.
The ugly incident has since sparked outrage, with Keke drivers staging protest at Garrik in the morning.
