Ethan Nwaneri is going to be playing for Borussia Dortmund for a whole season, having finally left Arsenal on a loan deal. This is coming following failed efforts to lend the teen to Marseille at the second half of last season.

Even though Nwaneri had returned to Arsenal this Summer, the club has made it clear he wouldn’t have the regular first-match-minutes chances any longer.

Then, decision was reached that the 19-year-old player need yet another loan for his own good. Since then Arsenal had been receiving approaches from Europe. Dortmund has sought in vain to permanently sign Nwaneri last season, and they began to push harder in coming days after their new arrival Giannis Konstantelias suffered an ACL injury.

On Tuesday Arsenal signed the deal, and Nwaneri flew to Germany to undergo a medical and to complete the deal. The terms of the deal were not clear yet, but it was believed they didn’t include the option for Dortmund to make it a permanent sign next summer.

Arsenal will host the Bundesliga side on November 24, meaning that Nwaneri is due to play against the Gunners soon in the league phase of the Champions League at Emirates Stadium. UEFA rule is clear on this: a player is eligible to face parent club in a match.

Ethan Nwaneri is the third player to be leaving Arsenal ahead of Deadline Day. Gabriel Jesus has moved to Barcelona in a £12.0-million deal, and Fabio Vieira has rejoined Hamburg, where he spent last season on loan, on £7.7 million price.

The last time Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund clashed was August 26 at Emirates Stadium, with 2-3 loss for the Gunners. Ethan Nwaneri and Viktor Gyökeres scored the goals for Arsenal.
