It was a sad day for Tomiwa, a 40-year-old married man who r@ped a married pregnant woman with disability. He is now cooling his head inside police net with various groups of the disabled calling for his blood.

The incident happened on September 9 at Ajegunle Street, Ore in Odigbo Local Government Area, Ondo state.

The Ondo State Agency for the Welfare of Persons with Disabilities disclosed this on Friday, added it was a concerned elder in the community who reported the case to them. Then, the Board Chairman of the Agency, Princess Folashade Arise, promptly involved the police. And Tomiwa was arrested; then, charged to court.

One of leaders of persons with disabilities in Ore, Mr Ayeniromo who represented Princess Arise in the court, thanked the police for their quick response, then called for the full weight of law to be made to come down on the suspected r@pist.

Arise vowed to follow the matter to “logical conclusion”, while citing various laws and ordinances including the Criminal Code, the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act, 2015, and the Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Act, 2018 that must be duly utilised to deal with Tomiwa.

There are few cases harder to win than a fight with people with disability.
